Are you just dying to get some scrappin’ in over the weekend? You want to spend time with friends but you’ve been putting off those recent pics and they’re not so recent anymore?
While scrappin’ a page or two can seem time consuming and you REALLY want to hang out, the truth is, you can do BOTH!. Pick up the phone, call about 2 – 3 or your friends for a Sunday afternoon cup of tea or coffee and some girl fun. You’ve got all day Saturday and the entire Sunday morning to pick up a few scrapbooking supplies from your local crafts store.
Which supplies? ANY scrapbooking supplies, of course! Grab a kit or two, or put something together yourself and wallah! You’ve just created a scrapbook party. The truth is, your friends may already be scrappin’… so tell them you plan to do some scrapbooking with them. Make sure your non-scrappin’ friends know to bring pics and scissors. You can share some of your tools (templates, punches, gluestick).
Offer some refreshments, play a good album and get scrappin’! Share your albums with others, see what they’ve done recently. Share ideas, chit chat and enjoy! You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much you’ll get done with youra friends around… whether they’re scrappers or not.
If you think your non-scrappin’ friends will need a bit of a push, print out a few sketches from Becky Higgins. And while everyone’s busy putting together a few pages, you’ve managed to hang out with your friends AND put together some pages, yourself.
Congratulations! You’ve just hosted your first scrap party!
Happy Scrappin’
Happy July Everyone!!
I am desperate to scrapbook. I think it has gone beyond a want to a need to scrapbook. I just moved June 19th into a little house with my sister. We love our new neighborhood, but it took us a few days to get the boxes unpacked and out of the living room!
Part of my motivation for putting things away was to pull out my scrapbooking stuff. You can’t scrap on top of boxes. Well, maybe you can, but that seems counter productive. We unpacked the kitchen first. Food and food preparation are always a priority.
Finally, this past Sunday, I pulled out some scrapbooking items. I wasn’t scrapping. I just needed to pull out paper. I sat on my bed with a 12×12 container and looked at the paper. Then I got out some chipboard letters and started spelling words on my bed. Honestly, I am such a big kid. I don’t scrapbook on my bed. I use a table or the floor like a sane scrapbooker. But I was spelling out chipboard words on my bed.
Now that the house is in pretty good order- pictures on walls and curtains hung- I can truly get out my scrapbooking supplies. I am looking forward to taking pictures for the 4th of July. I found terrific sparkly fireworks paper that I can’t wait to use. One of my goals for the holiday weekend is to scrap happy!
I admit I am very spoiled with scrapbooking supplies living in the States. If I am working on a project and decide that I needed a certain color of Bazzil cardstock to match I will run to the scrapbooking store to find exactly what I need. And I can be back in an hour or so to continue working on my project. This is definitely the epitome of a spoiled scrapbooker.
I read Hdar’s thoughts on how hard it was to have to wait for family or friends bring supplies to Israel. All I have to do is drive 15 or 20 minutes to a scrapbooking store, and I have a choice of stores. Scrapbookers in the States pretty much have anything they want at their fingertips.
I am always glad to have friends scrapbook with me. In fact, come and play. It’s just a short trip! Get to Tel Aviv…..fly to New York…..fly to Columbus…..visit Carrie….visit places to take pictures…..scrap happy!!
